BUDDY BEAR
B-COS We Care about children in need……..
Since 1991, the Buddy Bear Program has delivered thousands of “Buddy Bears”—soft teddy bears—to children experiencing distressing situations. Quarterly, our volunteers deliver these cuddly companions at no cost to:
UC Health Central Hospital
UC Health North Hospital
Special Kids, Special Families
Colorado Department of Human Services
UC Health Urgent Care (Garden of the Gods & Powers Boulevard)
In the 2024–2025 year alone, we placed 747 Buddy Bears into the arms of kids facing physical or emotional hardship. Each bear serves as a gentle, constant reminder that someone cares—and that hope and comfort can arrive in the smallest packages.
Why It Matters
• Emotional Safety Net: Hospitals and care centers are busy, unfamiliar—and sometimes frightening—to young patients. A Buddy Bear offers a sense of ownership, distraction, and familiar comfort.
• Community Connection: By distributing bears through trusted local partners, we weave a support network that reaches deep into Colorado Springs—so every child in need can feel seen.
• Longevity & Trust: More than three decades running, our program has become a beloved local tradition. Staff at partnering organizations consistently report that bears ease procedures, encourage smiles, and spark crucial conversations between caregivers and kids.
2025 Rebranding Challenge
In March of 2025, an embroidery-logo stalled our deliveries. Unable to remove the stitching, we pivoted – donating 1,200 surplus bears to the Pueblo Assistance League. These bears are now bringing comfort to children experiencing hardship in Pueblo County. This program has stood the test of time and proven that these snuggly bears hold a safety net of comfort – and a reminder that our community cares.
